Recommended Restaurants in the Historic Center

  1. El Meson de Chucho el Roto : (International cuisine) located in Plaza de Armas with a beautiful view of the main fountain and the Baroque architecture of the lovely square. Good wines, excellent food and service, and an elegant atmosphere with terrace seating. A favorite and typical dish is the "filete chemita" (chemita steak). Perfect for a romantic dinner, business meeting, or family event.
  2. Restaurant 1810 : elegant and well-located, right in the Plaza de Armas. Favorite dish: Three Musketeers steak with pepper sauce, mustard, and Béarnaise.
  3. La Antojería : (Mexican food and snacks from all over the country) pedestrian walkway in the historic center. You'll find all kinds of typical Mexican food. Typical dishes from Veracruz, Oaxaca, Puebla, Jalisco, etc. From every state. Everything is delicious and affordable. They also have refreshing drinks! And the Frida Kahlo-style decor is very Mexican, full of color and handicrafts. Located on the pedestrian walkway in the Historic Center.
  4. Bahji Indian Food: Delicious and with a charming atmosphere. You truly feel like you're in India, with tents and tunics on the roofs, Indian music, and all the dishes are delicious. The owner of this restaurant is from England, so it's more like a "London curry house"—you'll love it. My favorite dishes are the chicken korma and the lamb tikka masala, of course accompanied by a mango lazy and naan bread! Located on Independencia Street, almost at Plaza de Armas.

Favorite Bars

Horus, at Hacienda La Laborcilla: amazing! A 19th-century hacienda remodeled in an incredible way! With a central pool and fountain surrounded by beautiful, comfortable lounge chairs, Venetian mosaic floors, and statues brought from Egypt and Greece, it's a crazy yet elegant, first-class place! You haven't seen anything like it, not even in Vegas. Highly recommended! There's also a nightclub and a first-class restaurant inside the Hacienda. It's a 7-minute drive from the hotel.

Little Theater of La Carcajada

Super fun! If you want to laugh for two hours straight, go see the plays here! It's always packed and tickets sell out, so book in advance. There are comedy plays generally from Wednesday to Sunday.
